Seven Months of Romney vs Obama

Here we go again. The media is just starting to cover the horse race and will continue for the next six and a half months. Will we ever find issues in the main stream cacophony of talking heads? Would any of those talking heads know a real issue, even if it bit them on the ass? I think not. So if you want to find out what is what and where is where and why is why you will need to go online and find sources that actually think and care. If you need to check the facts then use politico.com and factcheck.org and flackcheck.org and snopes.com (for those persistent email rumors that keep reappearing).

What has bugged me to no end in the past and will probably bug me again this time around is the insanity of those who stand to lose the most and don't vote or who vote for the candidate who stands for everything that will make their existence not a wit better than it is now and will likely make it worse.

Here we go again!

PETA v. Obama

Did you hear about PETA's reaction to President Obama killing a fly that landed on his hand during an interview? (If not, see link, reference below, or key in "PETA, Obama, fly" into Google.)

The media of course is all over this story while investigative journalism, covering policy changes that affect the future of humankind, and informing the citizens of this country about life changing events go to "page 2". No the media would rather cover swatting flies and unfunny jokes that Letterman told.

Meanwhile, the next thing you know we'll be reading headlines or watching news reports of PETA trying to sue Obama (and other human fly swatters) for killing these six-legged sensate beings. I'm willing to pick up spiders found indoors and place them safely outside, but I draw the line at disease carrying insects such as flies, mosquitoes, and deer ticks (or poisonous arachnids for that matter). Or worse yet PETA can put a referendum on the California ballot that makes killing flies murder punishable by lethal injection.

Message to PETA: find important worthwhile causes to espouse such as slowing down global warming, solving world hunger, curing cancer, etc. or the only thing left on Earth will be the insects.

Joe McCain Leaves Campaign of brother John

According to the AP report brother Joe called 911 to complain about excessive bridge traffic at 1:30 a.m. The 911 operator asked him to state his emergency. Since he didn't have one he wound up hanging up after cursing at her (he claims he wasn't cursing her). This action followed previous gaffs resulting in Joe leaving the campaign. He admits that he has a temper and that short-tempered John will be upset when he finds out about Joe's latest screw up. It seems to me that this report is typical of the press and other media coverage that pays more attention to inane activities that have nothing to do with how McCain (and Obama for that matter) will perform in office or the facts about policies that either candidate is advocating. You really need to search hard and long to find head to head comparisons of candidate policies, etc.

First Thoughts

The ultimate insanity of election-campaign noise has set off a pattern of thinking in my mind that the mainstream media has no idea of Truth. The only Sanity in an insane world seems to come from satirization. But how can "satire" (i.e. Palin) really be satirized. Here Reality is less Real than Satire; here the "fake news" is more Real in its analysis than supposed fact-based news. Is the jester the only one that can hold the mirror of Truth up to false leaders? In all this Contemporary Insanity the only Sense comes from Absurdity and we are all surrounded by: Conventional Stupidity.
